Ridley Rules the Roost as NASRA Inaugural Champion
WHITELAND, IN (December 4, 2009) - The National All Stars Racing Association capped off the Inaugural Season with an Awards Banquet on Friday, November 27th, 2009 at CJ Rayburn Race Cars Conference Center. Aaron Ridley was honored as the Points Champion, finishing the season with a total of 862 points. He was one of over 91 different drivers from seven states who competed in the series during the first season.
Each of the top 15 drivers were awarded prizes from one or more of the following sponsors: Allstar Performance, Arizona Sport Shirts, Bilstein Shock Absorbers, Brinn Transmission, CJ Rayburn Race Cars, C-Line Engineering, CPD Racing Tools, Duralite Racing Wheels, Five Star Race Car Bodies, Hoosier Racing Tire, Hyperco, Jackson Oil, Kirkey Racing Fabrication, KRC, Petersen Aluminum, RCI Racing, Schoenfeld Headers, Stealth Racing Carburetors, VP Racing Fuels, Wilwood Engineering. The Crew Chiefs of the Top Three point’s holders were also awarded jackets from Arizona Sports Shirts.
Chris Tilley served as Master of Ceremonies for the evening, and Series Founder and President CJ Rayburn presented drivers with their awards, and in typical Rayburn fashion, added his own twist to the ceremony. After a countdown of the top drivers, mysterious extra large containers were brought to the stage. Rayburn shook his head as he addressed the top three finalists and announced that he wanted to make sure everyone got something, and he told top three finishers Tim Tungate, Justin Ratliff, and Aaron Ridley, “Boys, I already gave everything else away, so I saved the best for you all. Tim, as third place finisher you will get a medium sized chicken, and Justin, since you were second place, you get a large chicken. As first place winner, Aaron, you will get one Large Rooster”. The crowed enjoyed the presentation and laughed as the rooster crowed with perfect comedic timing.
The first feature of the series was run on August 14th at Moler Raceway Park in Williamsburg, OH. The series also competed at Bluegrass Speedway, Western KY Speedway, Windy Hollow Speedway, and Mountain Motor Speedway. The series will kick off the 2010 race season during the Winternationals at the East Bay Raceway Park in Gibsonton, Florida, on March 3rd through the 6th. The winner on March 3rd will take home $2500.00. March 4th and March 5th will each pay out $3000.00 to win, and the March 6th finale will pay $5000.00 to the winner.
